Auto-refresh/Event-refresh a post

Hi All,

I wanted to know if there is a way to auto-refresh a post (not the rest of the page).

Basically I have a post that displays a mysql table. I would want the post to be refreshed after a definite interval.
Ideally I would want it to be refreshed everytime I update the mysql database, through my php code. If there is a way for me to call a function that updates the post, then nothing better.
I am a novice in php and web-technologies and would appreciate if someone can help in this.
