• When I upload gif files in a fresh install of WordPress, different sizes are not created properly as set in the Media Settings.

    Default Media Settings:
    Thumbnail Size: 150 x 150
    Medium Size: 300 x 300
    Large Size: 1024 x 1024

    Uploaded Gif File:
    test.gif – 800 wide x 710 high

Result: After the test.gif file is uploaded, the following files are created in the Uploads directory.

    – test-150×150.gif – 1kb
    – test-300×266.gif – 1kb
    – test-800×510.gif – 48kb
    – test.gif – 63kb

The 1kb files are empty and cannot be opened. When I delete the test.gif file, the 1kb files do not get deleted.

Furthermore the different sizes do not appear in the “Attachment Display Settings” when inserting media.

This only happens with gif files. Why this is happening? Is it a server setting? The web host is Hostgator.

    Thank you.
