    Since the day “Automated Taxes” came out in v1.8.0 it has been calculating the wrong tax rate. For example the sales tax rate for Victor, NY 14564 is 7.5% but WooCommerce Services keeps calculating the sales tax rate as 8.0%.

    I notice that WooCommerce Services is using TaxJar to calculate the rates. So I went to https://www.taxjar.com/sales-tax-calculator/ and input my Zip code 14564. The sales tax came up as 8.0% again but stated that my county was Monroe instead of Ontario.

    I then went to https://www8.tax.ny.gov/JRLA/jrlaStart and typed in my address 7716 Victor Mendon Rd 14564 and it tells me I’m in Ontario County with 7.5% total sales tax.

    I have submitted a support ticket to TaxJar on the matter. I want everyone to be aware of possible tax miscalculation.

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    @tfrederick014,

    It seems that TaxJar may have already fixed the issue – I checked the address and TaxJar now shows the correct county and rate.

    Just a heads up – this is a public forum. We don’t recommend sharing potentially sensitive information like phone numbers and addresses.

    The TaxJar calculator is still telling me it’s Monroe County or Wayne County with 8.0% tax not Ontario with 7.5% Screen Shot with full address Screen Shot with just Zip I have cleared all cache and cookies in my browser as well.

    Thanks for the heads up, I posted the public address to my store’s location.

    Here’s a screen shot from the NYS website

    My apologies @tfrederick014,

    I seem to have let the address field use the auto-complete value, which added the ZIP+4. With the ZIP+4, the correct tax rate is shown: https://cldup.com/QS5A5jzYGS.png

    Can you try setting your store’s postcode to 14564-9117?

    I will try that.

    TaxJar got back to me and gave me a generic response about how they calculate tax rates. Saying a zip+4 is more accurate since some zip codes may contain multiple rates. In this case zip 14564 only contains one rate and is only located in 1 county not 3.

    I tried inputting 14564-9117 into my billing and shipping address upon checkout on my website and it spit out 7.5%.

    So I guess I’m going to need to use an address validation solution that autocorrects zips to zip+4 so TaxJar stops calculating the wrong tax amount.

    Maybe in a future update WooCommerce Services will implement such a service.
