• Hi,

i like the Plugin, This is really what i’ve been waiting for years. Such a simple idea to sync opening hours from Google directly.

Working with the UI makes mee think, that the Google Function is just a sidecar, cause it is not very visible. Also the decent “Opening Hours” Button at the right bottom, when in Settings mode is confusing, if you are new to the plugin and search your hours.

    But my Questions now:
I wanted to refresh my hours my client just changed in Google MyBusiness, but it didn’t worked as expected.
Finally i first had to clear the cache in the settings and then to click “Populate from Google My Business” to get the new hours.
This button should this in one action…

Second: Ho often does the hours sync with Google MyBusiness. I’d which a 1 or two times daily option for a good set and forget solution.

You wrote in some Answer, that you would spend a bit mor time to some syncing options like special opening hours if someone would pay for this.
As agency with more than 20 of my clients having their hours on there site, i would pay for a plugin which could act as set and forget tool for the hours, including a good ui, autosync and displaying special days.

A reasonable lifetime offer for agencies would sell like warm bread in my opinion.

    Best,
    Torsten

@torsten3d The “Populate from Google My Business” function is really only intended for a few uses, not an on-going procedure. You can use Structured Data to inform Google and Google My Business of your current opening hours, with special opening hours.

In an early version of the plugin, I did have an automated update system, but I realise that this would cause conflicts with Structured Data and potentially overwrite intentional changes made by the website’s owner.

The issue you mentioned here is very likely to relate to your page cache rather than the plugin itself. When populating from Google My Business or simply saving any data in the Dashboard will clear any cached data within the plugin. It doesn’t affect external caching.

With regarding synchronization, I strongly recommend using Structured Data to inform of your current opening hours. This is supported by Google My Business and some other services to keep your opening hours current across various directory services. The Places API does not offer special opening hours so any synchronisation would be incomplete in any case. However, Google My Business API does offer this, so I will be considering this as a future functionality upgrade.

I have received a few notes of interest for a proper synchronising version of the plugin across multiple locations – a premium version of this plugin. I do know there is some demand for this, but the development time and cost will be quite high.

Please drop me an email and I’ll keep you informed of any developments here – wordpress dash plugins at designextreme dot com.
