Hi, I’m getting my client websites ready so they don’t get affected by the Gutenberg update in the new version release coming out soon.

I am testing your plugin. Just had a few questions.

So just to clarify a few things.

Automatic Plugin Updates – Automatically update your plugins. Select always on, always off, the WordPress default, or select plugins individually using the Plugins tab.

Automatic updates for plugins are now off. – Does this mean that your software will automatically update the plugins that are installed without me having to click on “Update now” when switched on .. I am so used to clicking on “update now” and having no automatic update.

Automatic Theme Updates – Does this mean also your software will automatically update the theme without me click on the “update now” ?

Sorry I am not familiar with a plugin that does this automatically, and I know if I have them automatically updating that it can cause issues sometimes depending on the type of website, and conflictions with other plugins or issues with new plugin updates. Usually I prefer to manually update plugins myself (and test them beforehand) and ENSURE a full backup is done before any updates are done.

Basically the main thing I wanted to achieve with your plugin at this stage, was to DISABLE the AUTO CORE UDPATE *** so when the new release comes out that the site doesn’t automatically update it to the V5 when it comes out .. That would be a disaster if I haven’t pre-tested all my client sites with the Gutenberg plugin firstly.

WordPress Core Updates: I have Disabled
This will 100% stop the automatic upgrade to the new version of WordPress when it comes out ? Yes ?

    Regards
    Kristin

    Kristin,

Thanks for your request. You are correct that disabling Core Updates will prevent you from seeing a new version of WordPress when it comes out. Although this is discouraged, I understand your frustration with 5.0 being released soon.

    Thank you for your reply.

Yes I understand why not to do it, but all my websites will have to be fully tested on my server before I will allow this. Imagine hundreds of sites breaking all because the system did an automatic upgrade that is my worst nightmare …

I can set it back to automatic upgrades once I have manually upgraded each client to the new version to check there are no major issues with the upgrade.

    Regards

    Kristin
