• Hi there,
I would like to use the Auto Zoom Level setting but am not 100% sure how the other settings affect this (Load locations on page load / Max search results etc).

I’m finding that depending on a user’s location and the number of stores within their search radius the result is quite different. For example sometimes the map doesn’t auto zoom because all the results are already fitting in the map, other times it zooms a lot as there are many results close to the user etc.

What I would ideally like to achieve is this – have the map load at initial zoom level (12) and then zoom the the Max auto zoom level (20) (or a specific level somewhere in between if there aren’t enough results in the max zoom level).

    So in summary:

    • Option 1 – could make use of the max zoom level always (irrespective of whether all the results fit on the map) or better still
    • Option 2 – keep the max zoom level IF more than X results in the zoomed area ELSE automatically zoom to a level of say 15 after map loads.
    • Many thanks

  • Hi,

As you have probably guessed by now, in the end you have to play around with the combinations allowed by the options:

“Auto adjust the zoom level to make sure all markers are visible?”
    “Max auto zoom level”
    “Initial Zoom Level”
    “Number of locations to show”

But you cannot have the zoom conditionally behave the way you are describing. The way it works as it stands is, either you have a certain initial zoom level regardless of the number of stores that fit in it, or you decide to show a certain max number of stores regarding of the zoom level necessary to display all of them.

I really don’t know if this helps or not, so let me know.

Thanks for the info – could you perhaps elaborate on what “Number of locations to show” does? I don’t really see any change in number of results when this is set or not – and not sure how it relates to the “Max search results” setting?

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hi again,

“Number of locations to show” refers to the number of markers that are displayed on first load. Then it is likely that the user will do a search at some point, and when a search is performed then the “Max search results” dictates the number of stores that is returned.
