• Hi all,

I’m trying to manipulate the Autofocus theme to create a very minimalist website for my arts org.

I’ve just noticed my header is totally squidged up – this is most probably due to user error!

I’ve also been trying to remove the random ‘past’ link on the right sidebar. If anyone can help me with this too, I’d be most grateful ??

    Thanks

    Lucy

Are you using a Child Theme or Custom CSS plugin?

Oh crumbs, I haven’t a clue Andrew. How can I find this out? I just installed the theme and have been working on the Stylesheet.

As it’s just the stylesheet you’ve been working on, try using the Jetpack plugin and its Custom CSS section of the dashboard to hold your CSS modifications.

This way your CSS changes will not be compromised when the theme updates and will not compromise the theme. It also helps debugging which CSS issues are causing problems (whether it’s your CSS or the theme’s CSS).

Thanks a lot for your advice Andrew, I’ll try the plugin now.

For the mean time though, I can’t locate the changes already made. Any idea how I’d go about just editing the header text? Perhaps it’s the padding or something? Just need help locating the right part of the html.

    Thank you so much ??

Editing the text itself won’t have an effect on the styles that are being applied to it. You can expose the styles by using a browser developer tool like the one built-in to Google Chrome. Once you’ve exposed the styles, you can then create a style to override it in your Custom CSS section.
