Automatic Cropping / Resizing Upon Upload

    Hey ya’ll,

    I’m having a hard time trying to figure out how to automate cropping / resizing of an image upon upload. I’m creating a multi-vendor website similar to Amazon where vendors can add their products and I would love for the images to be cropped / resized to a square format upon upload from a vendor adding a product. If you look at the product images on Amazon.com, they’re all square format and I’m sure no one at amazon is manually cropping / resizing thousands of images daily. It’s clearly an automated process and I’d love to do the same.

    I’ve tried several plugins that kind of solve the issue but degrade the quality of the photos drastically. I also tried that ‘product images’ setting in the customize area of wordpress but it makes no changes that I can see.

    Anyone have any solutions?

    I also tried that ‘product images’ setting in the customize area of wordpress but it makes no changes that I can see.

    When you adjust that setting to be 1:1, it will crop image thumbnails so that on your shop page all products have a square image. This will only apply to the archive (shop) page. Individual product pages will still display the image as it was uploaded. It’s also good noting that depending on the number of images and products that you have on your site, it might be several hours for the cropping to be completed after you have changed that setting.

    Outside that setting, there isn’t any other way built into WooCommerce or the core WordPress software to automatically crop images after uploading them.

    I’ll leave this thread open in case anyone else from the community has suggestions about plugins that might exist out there to solve this situation.

    Yea I was more so looking for a way to have the product page images all be automatically cropped upon upload. Thanks for the reply anyway.
