    Hi,
I have problems using jetpack on my blog https://www.MadGrin.com

I have downloaded it from the official website https://jetpack.me/ and installed with no problems.

At first use it ask me to connect to my wordpress.com account (madgrin).
    Done!

Then I try to add some social connections under PUBLICIZE.
I click on the CONNECT button near the facebook pic and after few seconds appears a blank small windows over the admin page. There is no text inside. There is only the x in the upper right corner to close it.

I click the x button and in the admin page facebook is now connected.

Then I click the twitter connect button and I receive the message
“You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”

If I go back every setting is “lost”: the connection of jetpack with the wordpress.com site, the connection with facebook, etc.

Same situation choosing another social button (like twitter or linkedin) as first.

I have tried to reinstall (fresh installation) both jetpack and wordpress: no change!

    HELPPPP!! :-(((

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Jetpack uses your site’s XML-RPC file to communicate with WordPress.com. Unfortunately I cannot access that file on your site at the moment:
    https://www.madgrin.com/xmlrpc.php

If you use a security plugin to block access to the file, you’ll need to configure it to allow incoming and outgoing connections to /xmlrpc.php.

If you do not use such plugin, you’ll want to contact your hosting provider and ask them if they currently block access to your site’s XML-RPC file.

I would also recommend against the use of capital letters in your site url settings, as it may create some issues with WordPress in the future. You can change these settings by going to Settings > General in your dashboard.

I hope this helps. Please get in touch again if you have any questions.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Could you give it another try? If you still experience issues, could you go to the Jetpack menu in your dashboard, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on the Debug link?

If you see a red line in the debug results, could you click on it, copy the results, and paste them here?

    Thanks!

    Dear Jeremy,
    thanks for your answer.

I just tried the debug link.
    This is the answer:

    ========================================
There seems to be a problem with your site’s ability to communicate with Jetpack!

It looks like your site can not communicate properly with Jetpack.
    ========================================

I clicked the XML-RPC link https://www.madgrin.com/test_aruba/xmlrpc.php and I obtained this info

XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.

Twenty Twelve (the default WordPress theme) is active and there are no plugin active!

    Any idea?

    THANKS

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Thanks! The error seems similar to the one you experienced for your other site last week.

Since you don’t have any other plugins active on that site, I’d suggest getting in touch with your host and asking them if they currently block incoming connections to your site’s XML-RPC file, via Mod_Security for example.

Let me know how it goes.

We have tried with a fresh new installation of wordpress on my personal space.
NO PLUGIN, DATABASE EMPTY: https://www.madgrin.com/aruba: JETPACK WORKS!

So the problem is not related with the blocking of incoming connections.

It seems the database have some problems or the plugins (also if they are not active) cause some problems.
    Is it possible?

    Greetings,

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

It could, yes, if some of these plugins left some things active even after you deactivated them.

It would be worth checking your site’s .htaccess file to make sure there are no extra rules left there by a plugin you used to use in the past.

Let me know if it helps.

    Hi Jeremy,
    finally I solved the problem.

I exported all my blog through XML, cleaned up all the tables and reimported: now all works!

Thank you for your support! ??
