I have three member ‘types’ on my website. Each member type has its own profile page, with features relevant to that user type. I downloaded ProfileGrid for the profile functionality (along with RegistrationMagic) to handle registrations. I have a couple of pre-purchase questions.

My 1st question is: How do I automatically assign a new member to a group after email verification and deny membership of all other groups?

A Type 1 group membership is of no use to a Type 2 user. I need to remove the ‘Join Group’ option for all groups as group allocation needs to be automatic. I also need to remove the option for people to leave a group. The group defines what they can do on the site and they only have the one group to be a part of. However, I do not want the groups to be invisible to each other. I need members to be able to interact between groups.

My 2nd Question is: I would like to have a newsboard on my home page that would show all the latest posts on peoples’ profile pages allowing comments etc (sort of Facebook style). How can I achieve this?

I have downloaded a really nice Profile Template (thank you) but would like to edit it. It is the Profile number 3 template. I need to remove the Personal Identifiable Information (Full name, email etc) from this template, and add other features. My 3rd (and last, I promise) question is: How can I do this?

    Many thanks in anticipation

    John

    Hello @johnslack,

Please check our comments regarding  your queries:

    1) The plugin works based on group structure, where each group is associated with an individual registration form. Once a user registers using the registration form, they become a member of that group based on the group type. A group can be open or closed. Closed group membership requires verification of the request by an administrator or group manager, while an open group allows users to join without any approval. For more information, please visit: https://profilegrid.co/multi-group-users-and-group-manager/

You can hide the “Join Group” button on the group page by creating a custom template or applying custom CSS code.

You can also hide the “Leave Group” button by configuring the option from the dashboard.

    2) The plugin provides the shortcode [profilegrid_user_blogs] to display blogs posted by users. Alternatively, you can use any other plugin to display these blog posts, as they are custom post types.

    3) You can hide the “About” tab from the profile by disabling the tab in “ProfileGrid >> Global Settings >> Profile Tabs”. If you want to hide any specific field under the “About” tab, you can configure this option in the field settings. You can also create a custom template for the profile page. For more details on custom templates, please visit: https://profilegrid.co/creating-your-own-custom-templates/

The ProfileGrid extension “Custom Profile Tab” allows adding a custom profile tab on the user profile, which can be based on groups or individual users. It supports shortcodes from third-party plugins or custom HTML. For more details on this, please visit: https://profilegrid.co/customize-user-profile-with-woocommerce-shortcodes/ and https://profilegrid.co/extensions/custom-user-profile-tabs-content
