• I updated wordpress to 2.7 today and found something different in the plugins list. If a newer version of a plugin is available it says: upgrade manually or automatic upgrade.

    When I click automatic upgrade I get a new page with some fields to fill in:
    -Hostname:
    -Username:
    -Password:
    -Connection Type:

    What information is requested here? What do I need to fill in here? I tried to find an answer in the ‘online’ docs, and support forums but couldn’t find an answer.

    TIA,

    Eric

  • ftp host – i.e. https://ftp.example.com
    ftp username
    ftp password
    https://ftp.example.com

    I’ve wondering this myself and unsure why none of the forum posts have made this clear. Simply fill in the details for your blog. Thus…

    Hostname = myblog.com
    Username = the FTP user account with admin rights (the one you’d use to upload files via FTP)
    Password = password for the above account
    Connection type = choose regular FTP or Secure FTP

    Go nuts.
