Automatic Post Expiration?

    Hello!

    I was wondering if there’s a way to integrate the Post Expirator plugin (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/post-expirator/) with your plugin so that when users post content on the frontend, it automatically sets their posts to expire. I’ve tried submitting posts through User Submitted Posts with Post Expirator enabled, but it doesn’t automatically set them to expire. If I create a post through the WP dashboard, it automatically is set to expire, but not ones submitted through the front end.

    Hello,

    USP uses default WP functionality for submitting posts, so Post Expirator must be doing something beyond that default functionality. Do you know if there is a particular hook are something that the plugin requires in order to operate properly?

    It says about Post Expirator that “The plugin hooks into the wp cron processes and runs every minute by default, but can be configured to use any cron schedule (hourly, twicedaily, daily, etc).”

    It seems like there is some trouble with getting custom post types to work with the expirator plugin, so I wonder if that’s related to why they don’t auto-expire with User Submitted Posts?

    This plugin (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/electric-studio-auto-expire-post/) does seem to work, but hasn’t been updated in 3 yrs. I wonder why it works and not the Post Expirator?

    Yeah that makes sense, because USP doesn’t use any cron stuff. The CPT issue may also factor in, but USP (free version) submits posts as regular WP Posts, so maybe not sure on that one. You may want to ask the Post Exp. author if they have any ideas.

    Would it be possible to create a field on the front end in USP so a user could select when a post will expire?

    @cshibbs that’s currently not a feature of the plugin, but it’s on the to-do list.
