Automatic search after selecting dropdown

When the search box is showing at the top I have two dropdowns also shown (category/city). Most of the time people will want to use the dropdowns to filter the list. It’s not obvious that when they click the dropdown to filter the list they have to click the ‘search’ icon at the top right. Could this not be automated so there is an event on the dropdown select to then apply the search?
