• Hi, there does anyone know of a way to turn off automatic updates. My site is down from the update to 4.1.1 – down as in the custom functionality I’ve had to use to make it work the way I need it to, is no longer working rendering the site essentially useless. I found a plugin but it is not compatible with 4.1.1

It appears that changes to a category widget are not updating when I save and t his is what is causing it. I also will need help understanding what it will take to roll my site back to a functioning version, I believe I was on 4.0.1 and it was sold.

Any help appreciated. I am in distress that my site is down in the middle of our busiest time of year. Thanks!

  • i’ve used this plugin when needed with luck to disable all or specific kinds of updates

and to address your second part, restoring is easy if you have a backup of the wp database. more helpful if you have full backups

what format of backups do you have available to you?

Hi Bernbe, I only backup weekly so will lose all of my changes for the past week which is troubling, of course.

Well, I’ve got it working again in Firefox but not Chrome or IE which may be a cache issue. I have dumped cache in both but am unable to see the updates that I see in Firefox. Odd, but I’ll continue to investigate. Thanks for the plugin. i had no idea that WP was going to update automatically. Harsh to come to the office in the morning, only to find the website no longer functions. With any luck, that won’t happen anymore with this plugin and I’ll have an opportunity to backup before any updates. Thanks again!
