I’m using the premium version. The plugin won’t update to v. 6.0.16.

    The error message is:
Update Failed: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.

How do I know which file permissions I need to change?

    Thank you.

    Hi,
I have the exact, same problem, for the free version of Wordfence. I tried changing the permission from 644 to 755 for my tmp/configCache.php as the error message suggested: (The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions tmp/configCache.php)

    but that didn’t work.

My entire site disappeared last night too. I imagine it was a related issue. Today I got it back by deactivating, then re-activating each plugin one by one (including Wordfence). Everything seems to be running smoothly again, but, still, I cannot update wordfence.

I hope this clear? Any advice would be appreciated.

    thank you

On a few sites, people have had to turn on the option “Disable config caching” and save the changes, and then it is safe to remove the “configCache.php” file entirely. If that still doesn’t allow you to update, please make a new post in the forum instead of replying on this one. (This topic was already marked resolved, and www.ads-software.com’s forum rules ask us to keep each post to a single person’s problem — it also helps us keep track of open issues.) Thanks!

    thank you, I will.
