Automatic Updater

  • I have a couple of wordpress sites that I manage. When the lastest versions of wordpress were released, I got the notifications to update from version 3.9.1 & 3.9.2 etc on two of my sites, but not the 3rd. I’m running a child theme on this particular site. I’ve disable plugins, reinstalled the theme. But still the auto update won’t present itself. I know I can manually update to version 4, but wanted first to know why this has occured, and I’m not feeling particularly confident about doing a manual install. Please help.

    Has your wp-config file changed? Possibly changed the autoupdater?

    I don’t think so.. how can I check if it has?

    The file browser should be able to tell you when the last modified date was and what files/folders as well.

    Are you using some sort of version control on it? The reason I ask is because if there are certain folder/files in your directory, the WP updater may not check for updates.

    Are there any plugins that may be an issue?

    I’m thinking out loud a little to give you an idea of what things to look for and possible think about as well, you know, things that may be different.

    The wp-config file last modification was 14 August 2014. That is around the time the website was created. I’m not aware of any version control being used. One thing I’ve noticed is SEO by Yoast plugin is installed on the sites that won’t update.. would that have anything to do with it? forgive me I’m new to this, obviously and have been thrown in the deepend so to speak, so learning on the fly.
