• Hi,
I’m using WordPress v.4.7.2 and theme Twenty Seventeen v.1.1 as Multisite network of 10 subdomain sites.
Does in this case auto-update work?
    Does not work for me.

In wp-config.php not use constants like ..CRON.. and ..UPDATE..
    ACTIVE PLUGINS:
    ACTIVE PLUGINS
    WP-Cron Events:
    WP-Cron Events
    Apache:2.4.10
    Nginx:1.11.6
    PHP:7.0.15

  • Hi All,

I was about to create new topic for same issue as per the suggestion by @t-p in topic https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/automatic-update-not-happened-for-release-4-7-2-wp-multisite/#postform.

But now found a case with same issue. Please help us to resolve this, this is the similar issue which we’re facing.

Automatic updates for minor releases is enabled for WordPress multisite via the Easy Updates Manager plugin.

Minor release version 4.7.2 was released two weeks ago, on January 26. However, we noticed that the WordPress multisite installation had not been automatically updated to release 4.7.2. This suggests that minor-release upgrades are not occurring automatically as expected. Please let us know why this update was not happened automatically even though minor automatic updates enabled.

EUM only allows/disables automatic update functionality. Minor point releases should automatically be downloaded and installed, regardless if this plugin is disabled or not, for both single and multisite.

I less suspect this plugin as being a cause of this issue, but more of a symptom that people are experiencing. This can be a myriad of things including hosting blocking the updates, cron disabled, constants defined in wp-config, file permission errors, and much more that would take extensive troubleshooting.

Matthew and I are definitely active on this plugin and willing to help out, but there are issues that are beyond our capability to troubleshoot such as this one.

If anyone is willing or able to help figure out at least a few of these automatic update gotchas, please reply here and we’ll update our Automatic Updates wiki.

BTW, if you are still sitting on WP 4.7, please update immediately to 4.7.2.

We’ve upgraded it manually. BTW, what should we do now to make it work for next minor release?

    I did some tests.
In my case, the cause is the plugin iThemes Security (I want to say this is a very good plugin, despite the situation).
The case in the settings section ?Multisite Tweaks?:
Although the description of all 3 items just says ?Hide Notifications?, if turn on any 1 item — the auto-update breaks completely: plugins, themes, core, and emails.
    iThemes Security

But, we’re not using that plugin, still it failed for us.

To help you get to the bottom of this:

(Network) Install the wp crontorl plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-crontrol/
    Activate
    Go to /wp-admin/tools.php?page=crontrol_admin_manage_page
Using “Run Now” against wp_version_check should cause the autoupdate to occur
You can tell what version you have quickly via /readme.html

    Hope this helps.
