• I would like to know whether the plugin automatically updates the times from Google Business, perhaps using cron, or whether you have to update manually from the administration panel.

    Thanks

@pointnet This is intentional functionality. The updates from Google My Business are manual because Structured Data will inform Google of your openings hours.

I may change this in the future to restore the automated downloading regular opening hours provided that Structured Data is not enabled (this prevents unintentional overwriting).

This would be a very useful function.

Thank you for your reply and also for this plugin.

@pointnet Actually, thinking about it a little more, I can implement a time-delayed synchronisation. If the [plugin’s] opening hours haven’t changed for 1 or 2 weeks, then start synchronising from Google My Business. In the meantime, only permit a manual download.

I do recommend Structured Data. With this in place, synchronisation should be unnecessary.

Hey there, I’m looking for this functionality as well. Reason being, client can manage their GMB account themselves but is not adept at making web changes. So, if the data could be retrieved at a configurable time (nightly?) to make sure it’s up to date that would be awesome.

    Awesome plugin, btw.

@diskdaddy Thanks for the note about this.

I still recommend using Structured Data to inform Google My Business – this way you can set all your opening hours, special hours and temporary closures.

I will look into automating the process – with a delay (so all data must be at least 1-2 weeks old) to avoid circular overwriting of inaccurate data. Alternatively, the synchronization could start immediately if the current GMB opening hours are loaded at this time.

Any subsequent edits to the standard opening hours (in the plugin) would cancel the synchronization process. The special/closure hours will not halt the process because the Places API only shares the regular hours.

I want to avoid the older version of the hours to overwrite the newer version.

This will be included in a future update. I don’t have a time-frame in mind yet.
