Automatic Upgrade: Could not download latest files from WordPress. Cannot contin

  • I’m attempting to use the automatic upgrade to 4.1.1 and keep failing when attempting to retrieve the latest version from WordPress. The specific error is below. I’ve done automatic upgrades on this site in the past with no issues and have done no changes at the system/file level.

    Task Name: getlatestfiles
    Task Description: Downloads / Uploads the latest files for wordpress
    Task Status: Failed
    Task Start Date: 2015-04-16 19:39:42
    Task End Date: 2015-04-16 19:39:42
    Task Log: Starting to download the file from https://www.ads-software.com/latest.zip
    Downloading the files using Snoopy
    ERROR -> Could not download latest files from WordPress. Cannot continue with the process.

    Alternately, try MANUAL updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old copies of files & folder on your server before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first.
    – If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong.

    Thanks for the quick suggestion, Tara. I’ve done manual before and will resort to that if I have to, but would really prefer to just do the automatic.
