• I’m having a bit of trouble with this. When I use the “Automatic Upgrade” button, it doesn’t seem to want to go beyond “Unpacking the core update” message. What’s going on?

  • and now I have to do it manually?

    its not that incredibly hard to upload the files is it? in the 4 minutes I walked away and went to the restroom, I could have had my ftp client doing it, and it would be done by the time I finish typing this out.

    May want to take a look at the video below and see if it helps.

    If you still have problems, then you may want to try a manual upgrade…see the following:

    Thank you whooami for flaming the noob, I appreciate it.

    Anyways, figaro, those videos are very helpful, thanks. ^_^

    @montu: You’re welcome…hope they help.

    Montu,

    I didnt write anything intending to flame you. On the contrary, my question above was serious, but I apologize if you misunderstood.

    It’s OK, we’re all good. It seemed a bit snarky, but it’s possible I’m just in a bad mood because I don’t want to deal with this right now, so I was projecting. I apologize as well.

    It’s been a while since I’ve done this, and I’m still really new to all this, so it’s a bit more difficult because I’m uncomfortable using the software.

    Hey guys, i’ve been having a similar problem. Im on bluehost so it is supported accoding to the codex page. however for me it just stays stuck on the Downloading update from https://www.ads-software.com/wordpress-2.8.2.zip and the file created in the wp-content folder is 0 bytes. i tried changing the permissions of the folder from 755 to 777. any body have an idea of what i am doing wrong?
