Automatically add title to when inserting blank URL

  • In the classic editor, if you added a link from the link search bar to blank text, it would automatically hyperlink the title of the post that you selected with the post URL. Now, when I do the same thing with the Gutenberg editor, it pastes in and hyperlinks the URL address with the URL address. Is there a way to get back this function from classic?

    Hi cdgeog

    I just tested.
    I added some text.
    Went to the URL and copied it.
    Selected the text in the paragraph block.
    Then pasted the URL.
    The text now became a hyperlink.

    So it seems the feature you asked about has been added. Yayy!
