• Hi.

My client’s site is using the Halsey theme and having metadata added automatically at the end of the page title that is showing up in all search results and I cannot find any theme or plugin options (Yoast SEO) to prevent this. The theme was purchased well before my time and there is no support from the developer currently.

For example, a search result will read:

    Mississauga Plumbers (905) 601-8000 Emergency ServicePlumber.ca

And the Plumber.ca at the end was not added in the Yoast metadata fields nor is it written anywhere like this on the page itself. This same result occurs within search results for all posts and pages.

Does anyone have any idea how to where to look to prevent this?

Let me know any further questions or how I can help.

    Thank you,
    Ryan

  • possibly look through all theme files and plugin files in the site and search for some filter code with 'wp_title'

and, to exclude any plugin specific problems, try to temporarily deactivate all plugin (maybe leave yoast seo activated) to see if the meta title changes.

and, to exclude any theme specific causes, try to temporarily switch to the default theme Twenty Sixteen or Twenty Seventeen.
