• Hi

Basically I want people’s email address to be their username and have checked the Automatically generate username from customer email in Settings>Accounts

This worked great before 4.6 but now it is not working. The system is stripping the @xxxx.xxx from their email and creating that as the username.

    I have WP 4.6, Woo 2.6.4
I already disabled all plugins and that did not correct it.

How to I make this work?
    thank you

That is how it is supposed to work. The user can still login with their email address if they would like to, but their username is going to only be the first part only.

Aargh! I dont know how I never noticed this!!

But what happens when we have duplicate names like [email protected] and [email protected]

Then it would be John and John1?

    Confusing!!

That sounds wrong. How can we avoid this?

    thanks!

You can allow them to pick their own username, or just hide replace all instances of their username and replace it with their email address in emails and such – but that’ll take some customization.

Ok BUT if I let them choose their username and they choose one already in existence, what happens?

    thank you so much!

A notice will appear that they need to choose a different username: https://cld.wthms.co/qnDi/5Rbfxtol
