automatically move past events to an archive page

hi events manager team

i’ve noticed on my site that when an event passes its date it remains on my events page instead of moving automatically to my archive page. the only way i’ve managed to move them is to create a ‘past events’ category and manually assign them to it

it could be the way i’ve structured the site

note: not the em default page, in settings > pages > event list/archives, events page is set to Events. if i change it to whats-on it shows the same content as on the non-used events page [https://www.inbristol.org/events/]

note: it actually displays events with the ‘past events’ category, but i would like it to display events that have passed their date

can you help please?

i’m using category ajax filter to filter and display events, might this be interfering?
