• Every month I upload a PDF and add a link to that pdf on a page that contains all the previous links. Currently I create a download button each time and link it to appropriate file. I would like to know if there is a way, a block, a plugin, to use the category I can assign to the PDFs to get them to automatically populate the aggregation page the way one can do using say a Post Title block. I don’t need to embed the PDF, just provide a link to it.

I know that technically each media library upload creates an “attachement page” and that is technically a type of post but I cannot see away to use that info to help me here.

  • Wordpress itself does not offer the possibility to link media files with categories. However, this can be retrofitted with various plug-ins. If you already do this, the question would be which plugin do you use for this? Depending on this, we can tell you whether it is possible to automate the output.

I activated Media Library Categories thinking that as long as I could assign a Category to the PDFs I could then find a way to create a list page like the Post List, but obviously not that one. I can link each PDF to a Post page and if I were starting fresh that might be the way to go but there are many years of PDFs. I would love to find a plugin.
