Hi! Our company is using WP VR and we have a problem in it. The “Autoplay” function in 360 Video won’t turn off in some 360 video elements. Once you click the “off” radio button, it seems to work, but as soon as you update, the “Autoplay” function has gone back to “on” mode. The weirdest thing is that in some 360 video elements in the same site it works perfectly, but there are a few where it doesn’t. These 360 video elements are similar to each other.

I can’t find any logical reason why it doesn’t work. Could you help me? I’m using the newest version of Google Chrome (version 90+) and all my videos formats are mp4.

  • Hi @miira ,

Can you tell us if you’re using self-hosted 360-degree videos or YouTube/Vimeo videos?

Give us the link to the pages where this issue is happening, we’ll have a look.

Also, we’ll test it on our environment and see if we face the same issue.

Hi and thank you for your quick response!

I used self-hosted 360-degree videos, so not from YouTube or Vimeo. Unfortunately I cannot provide a link to the website as it is confidential.

    Best regards,

    Hi @miira ,

Sorry for getting back to you late.

We have tested it on our environment by creating tours using self-hosted 360-degree videos with the Autoplay & Loop features turned on.

Apparently, on Google Chrome & Safari browsers, the Autoplay feature is not working.

This is due to the security issue of both these browsers. These 2 browsers will block any media content from automatically playing by default.

On the other hand, the Autoplay feature worked on the Firefox & Microsoft Edge browsers.

The Loop features worked for all of these browsers.

This was the reason some of these videos were not supporting the Autoplay feature.

You can try to manually enable the Autoplay option for media files on Your Google Chrome settings and this might work for you.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hi @jahirchowdhury and thank you so much!

Actually my problem was that the Autoplay-function is always “on” in some 360 degree videos, and I wanted Autoplay to be in “off” mode. Sounds like that browser problem that you found is not the answer to my problem, I don’t think for security reasons the Autoplay is always on! ??

I’ll try more browsers for this, though, if there is any possibility that that could work.

Thank you again, even if this didn’t quite solve my problem!

    Best regards,
    Miira

    Hi @miira ,

Really sorry that I misunderstood your issue.

I just went back and tested the plugin again and you’re right!

I’ve tested it for self-hosted videos, YouTube videos, and Vimeo videos.

Only for the self-hosted videos, the Autoplay option gets automatically turned on after every time we update the tour.

We’ll add this bug to our current list of tasks to be fixed asap.

Hopefully, you’ll get the fix for this in the next update of the plugin.

No problem! And that’s great that you found the bug, I was thinking maybe the problem is at our end. Thank you for fixing it! I’ll wait for the next update of the plugin.

Thank you again & best regards,
    Miira

    Hi @jahirchowdhury ,

Sorry for my late reply, I was on my summer vacation. Thank you for fixing the bug! It really did help, although now the “Autoplay” function has been completely removed. It would have been nice to have it if ever needed. I hope it comes back in some future update and that it would work nicely. Thank you for the fix!

    Best regards,
    Miira

    Hi @miira ,

Thank you for informing us about it.

Did you mean the Autoplay option has been removed from the Video settings tab?

    Hi @jahirchowdhury ,

Yes, I didn’t see the “Autoplay” option anymore in the Video settings tab. Hopefully it’ll come back someday!

    Best regards,

    Hi @jahirchowdhury ,

After your latest message I had to make sure that we have the Pro-version of the plugin activated and it wasn’t, so I apologize for the trouble I caused! Once the Pro-version was activated at our end, the Autoplay option was visible again. Everything works now as it should, so I don’t need to contact you on this issue any further.

Thank you for great customer service, I really appreciate it! Have a great summer!

    Best regards,
    Miira
