Autoptimize

  • Hi there,

    i got a problem with the instagram plugin and “Autoptimize”:

    When i let Autoptimize optimize JS (merge JS) the plugin stops working (only a loading icon appears). I’ve already excluded the two scripts sb-instagram.min.js, sb-instagram.js in the Autoptimize Options, but it’s still not working. I’ve also excluded the js/jquery/jquery.js and the migrate of jquery – still not working. I have to disable all JS Options to see the Instagram Posts…

    I found just one half-baked solution…

    + Merge JS in combination with + Inline JS

    …but with these two options together the cache of Autoptimize is growing way to fast and i have to manually clean it every 2nd day, which is kinda odd.

    Is there any other solution to be able to merge JS and have a working Instagram Feed?

    Hey beatcore,

    Typically our plugin works just fine with autoptomize and the default settings. Can I take a look at a page that is having the issue? I can let you know what might be going on then.

    Console output while JS Minify is on shows things like:

    _ is not defined
    wp is not defined
    moment is not defined
    …

    maybe try excluding wp-includes/js/dist (and possibly lodash too)?

    it is working, but i get 2 other errors with another plugin then ?? And the google pagespeed is worse too because of that exclude.

    These errors are:

    ReferenceError: Backbone is not defined from notes-common-v2.js
    TypeError: _ is undefined from admin bar

    But seems to be that i only get these when being logged in… Frontend seems stable.

    Page Speed (only on insights) drops by 40 points :/ (render blocking ressources)

    you could also exclude backbone and underscore.

    As I wrote, you’ll have to make a choice between a high pagespeed score and a working Instagram feed ??

    Hey everybody,

    Just thought I would chime in here. We have an update coming in September that will drastically change how the plugin works. It’s possible this won’t be an issue then (you won’t need to exclude any files).
