    Hi,
I am using WP Fastest Cache and since it doesn’t have all the options for minifying and defering as Autoptimize does, I tried using both together with all the minifing and combining options from WPFC turned off. This does work and speed tests do show less requests and defered js files. And subjectively, the pages seem faster than with WPFC combining/minifying.
    BUT
the speed tests also show that the pages are actually FASTER loaded when only using WPFC and its minify options, even though there are more requests then and no js is defered…

So I am not sure what to do with that? How come the page load is slower even though less requests and subjectively faster? Should I still use AO then or only use WPFC??

Can you test with WPFC and WPFC+AO and benchmark them with a test on webpagetest.org (5 runs, Cable, location & browser of your choosing) and post the links to the webpagetest.org tests here so I can compare?

    Hello,
well my site is not open to public yet but I did 5 tests each on webpagetest and there, I found similar results. I have some screen shots:

the first two are with AO, the other with WPFC.
On Gmetrix though I get 2.6-3 s on average with WPFC and 3.6-4s with AO.

don’t believe in gmetrix (kidding, somewhat), but can you provide me with the links to the webpagetest results (you can mail me, if you prefer; futtta-at-gmail-dot-com) then I can see what is happening in detail.

thank you for your offer, I’ll get back to that. Currently I am also trying to figure out which caching plugin to use in first place. I read you recommend Super Cache, I have also tried that but again subjectively it seems fast but webpagetest says different. And togethre with AO it’s even slower…when Super cache’s cache is emptied, is AO#s cache also getting emptied?
May I also ask if you are using the preload function of Super cache? I would really love to use AO but the first load is taking forever and I don’t want the first visitor see this.

    no

no, haven’t tried that yet. I’m on legacy pae caching, so “preload” isn’t available for me.

I’ve seen people rave about hypercache and zencache, have you looked at those yet?

Yes, I tried Zencache and Hypercache, also W3 and Cachify. Basically the same as WPFC, what I don’t like about some of them is that they don’t have the option to only have the blog post refreshed when a new post is creaated(the whole cache gets emptied).
I was also wondering, is AO creating files for logged in users(just me, the admin and author)? And please tell me what the files are that are also added in the autoptimize main cache folder(not the js or css folder).

on the front-end; yes. on the admin-pages; no.

please tell me what the files are that are also added in the autoptimize main cache folder

those are a result of the inlined background images option, some are to support (old) IE-version (the .txt-files), the .img-files are the cached base64-ed images themselves.
