My site isn’t live yet so it’s not accessible on the front end, but here’s a link to a couple of screenshots of the slider on my sidebar.

Oops, sorry. I accidentally switched the links. The first link is for the post image that is originally 547 x 404, and the second link is for the post image that is originally 1024 x 452. My bad…

It’s difficult to find issue without checking page because the theme or other plugin CSS may be conflict but you can try this CSS

.recent-post-slider .post-image-bg img { height: auto!important;}

Add this CSS in your theme style.css
