AutoUpdate FTP not working

Hi,
the autoupdate-feature for plugins and the WP-installation does not seem to work. When I try to update a plugin I get asked for my ftp login… but automatic ftp update fails, too, I get an error message saying that my wordpress directory could not be found.

Any ideas?
