• Hi,

    I created a site there:
    Michel-Roberge.com
And avast reports a malware. I downloaded everything locally and scanned, no issues. Scanned with other online tools, no issues.

Anyone knows how to identify the issue? I wouldn’t want to report a false positive if it is an actual malware but I don’t know how to identify the culprit…

    Thanks!

    Michel

  • According to a scan carried out at sucuri.net, it looks like you are using an outdated Cpanel.

I would contact Godaddy and see if they are working on updating this and if they think that this could be the cause of the issue.

    Hi,

I did contact them, and they are saying that if that was the actual problem, there would be more reports of problems…

I now called avast, and they’re saying my computer is the problem. But it happens on every computers I tried which runs avast – albeit support there said it’s not happening to them (do they even run avast? ?? ).

Now, I ran Zulu to try and no threats:

I wonder if anyone else could give it a try and see if there is an actual problem with them going on the site?

    Thanks!

    Hi Michel

This is curious. Although it’s hard to tell whether AVAST is flagging the desktop or the site, it’s message implies something wrong with the site. That being said, one option you have is to engage the Sucuri Labs group – [email protected]. They are always looking for interesting cases, and they’ll be able to run a number of tests, above and beyond the SiteCheck scanner, to see if something is showing that might be triggering Avast.

The thing with AVAST is that it’s concerned with end-point security, meaning it’s looking for things that are triggering on the local environment (which could or not be coming from the specific site. )

    Hope this helps.

    Perez,

I got it to work. I moved to a different host – the guys @ Avast were very helpful in identifying the issue. My previous host had some issues – it turns out my IP was tied to a blacklisted site.

I moved out, and asked Avast to reconsider. They did something to their AV database to fix that – now my site is trustworthy ??

    Like magic. That’s great news!

    Thanks
