    Hello wiseall,

Thanks for using our plugin! I want to help you solve your problem, but I cannot seem to find where you use the about widget on your site. As for what avatar the about widget is suppose to output it is the Gravatar avatar (this is also your WordPress avatar).

    Kyle

As you can see, I have a gravatar, left, but it does not show up in the “About Us” widget on my page. I am using the Journey theme, which I am working to customize. The Avatar shows for front page articles, where applicable. Site Admin’s Avatar = ENABLE. Please advise.

    Thank you!

    Hello pmack72,

You will just need to setup your gravatar account with an image and everything should work just fine.

Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

Like I said above, the gravatar IS in place and is showing up left and also on other parts of the website.

Ok so your problem is that your Gravatar is not displaying in the “About Us” Widget. Is this correct. If so can you please include a link to a page where that widget is suppose to display.

    Thanks

Thank you. The widget is installed in the right side bar. The gravatar shows on posts, but not here.

Does the Widget Area you are displaying the gravatar widget in show on your home page? Sometimes themes will just not display a Widget area in certain parts of your site. Please make sure that Widget Area is displaying in the right spot.

Yes, the area is there with the default WordPress icon (head).

It seems to me that your site is displaying the About Us widget. I can see it here right below your Twitter Feed.

Yes, it is displaying the widget. It is not displaying the Avatar. But forget it, this is a ridiculous process. You are not really trying to read what I write and understand the issue and only stating the obvious back to me. Forget about it. I already said all of the things you are posting to me.

Sorry if this sounds like I am trying to dodge the question, but I am not I am just confused by what you are asking exactly. When you had the widget installed on your site I did see a Gravatar, but it was just the default Gravatar that they use when you do not have one setup.

This is why I became confused because the Gabfire Widget Pack does not do any custom code to display the Gravatar, it is all done through the get_avatar function. This function will return the user’s Gravatar or a default avatar if they have none. So, overall I thought the problem was on Gravatars end since we are using the same get_avatar function in our plugin as WordPress does everywhere else.

The gravatar is set up and displays here for my member profile and also on the posts I author on the page as an admin. But, as you said, it only shows a default one instead of the gravatar for me. I do not understand why it does not show it on the About when it appears in the other areas. But, I can use custom HTML to make my own about section. It is not something to continue troubleshooting because it is simple to just use another method. Maybe it is a problem unique to my account, but I do not understand why. Thank you for your time.

We would love to know why this is happening, but if you feel that you want to choose another method, then let know know if you need help with adding the code into a Text Widget. It is really strange that it does not show up especially since your Avatar is being shown on other pages.

Like you said we don’t have to go crazy with this issue, but you have any other questions please feel free to ask ??

Thank you, I have the HTML text widget in place already. I asked only because it did not make sense to me and I thought the issue would be of interest to you, as well. Have a good day.

Also, I want to say that I am very pleased otherwise with the theme and widgets I purchased here. With some custom art, the site will be perfect for my needs.
