I found this (closed) support thread and I am having exact same problem but with square payment processing. https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/avatax-not-passing-tax-value-to-apple-pay-google-pay/

Taxes are not shown when you select Google or Apple Pay options at checkout. However, when you complete the purchase tax is factored in on the backend. This is a big deal, as customers are not being shown their full total before paying. After payment is complete their order summary shows the accurate total, but not before. I have tried everything listed in the previous thread I linked to, but nothing has worked.

This is a very easy process to reproduce. As long as square, WooCommerce, and Avatax are linked together, this issue will display itself before completing checkout

  • Hi, @ahvenllc!

Although the thread you linked to pertains to Stripe, your issue might still be related.

To start, can you share with us your settings under WooCommerce > Settings > Tax? You can use https://snipboard.io/ to share those screenshots with us.

    Thanks @ahvenllc!

Can you confirm that this only happens with Avatax enabled? That will help us isolate the issue. If it happens without Avatax, the next step would be to proceed to a fuller test for theme or plugin conflicts.

We look forward to hearing back from you so we can get to the bottom of this.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
