I tested the plugin with a newly uploaded JPG.
Enable it to compress & convert the new uploaded images is enabled.

At first, the image is served as AVIF type as expected.
If I disable and re-enable the plugin, the image is served as JPG type.

Let me know if you need more details.

    Hello @masvil

When CompressX is disabled, the rules it has created in the .htaccess file will be deleted as well, that is to avoid conflicts with other image optimization plugins.

Normally, when the plugin is enabled (again), the rules will be automatically created.

In your case, you can check whether the rules of CompressX exist in the .htaccess file.

    Hello @masvil

    Additional information:

Please kindly note that the .htaccess file we’ve been referring to is the one located in the wp-content folder and the root Uploads folder, not the one in the website root directory. Please make sure to check the right .htaccess files.

Btw, we’ve released a new version of the plugin 0.9.7 where we’ve fixed some bugs. Please update the plugin and let us know if you still have any issues using the plugin.

    All the best,

    Thank you for the follow-up.

Both .htaccess correctly update on plugin activation and deactivation, but after the 1st deactivation onwards the image is always served as JPG type instead of AVIF type, accordingly to Chrome Incognito (cache purged).

I’ve set up a staging site for you on the same environment/stack. Feel free to let me know how I can privately contact you to provide an admin access and all the steps to reproduce the issue.
