• Great plugin and good features but regretfully this is the worst plugin I have ever seen for SEO. Keep searching if you want organic traffic. Do not make the mistake I did of setting everything up to find out the troubles this will cause.

  • Hi Tony,

I was about to start using this plugin. Thanks for the notice.

What is the plugin you are using now?

    Hi Tony,

Please suggest the best plugin for a job board. I am using wp job manger but this plugin does not provide complete solution to job board. It provides addons and needs many other plugins for adding features. I am not satisfied with wp job manager. Do you suggest any plugin for a complete job board?

Sorry for the late response everyone. I’ve been testing a lot of job board plugins over the past few days. So far, the best free for me has been Job Manager & Career as it has no frill and just does what it needs to in the simplest way possible

It uses WordPress Custom Post types instead of a custom back end which is great for working with other plugins.

I found that it lacks appearance customization options but with that I also found that it has a template system so you can customize the files yourself. This does require some coding but I was able to get the system to look exactly how I wanted without paying for the upgrade.

Custom fields are easy to add. They don’t allow for preselectable options like WP job portal and instead just use text fields. I find this extremely reasonable and gets the job done.

The resume part is very basic but gets the job done reasonably well.

Overall, its a plugin that’s great out of the box. With a small amount of coding knowledge you can customize it exactly how you’d want it to be. It’s a great foundation and light weight code to build something off of if you want to grow with it in the future.

To expand on the SEO issue for those curious. Wp Job Portal does not create a new page for each job listing. Instead, it uses the page that you added the shortcode to for determining the page Title and Meta description.

This means google sees all the pages as the same title and description. If by a miracle, someone googled your specific job and you popped up, they would just see the title

    “All of our jobs”

    Instead of something all

“Specific job name in xx area paying xx”

The description for the page would be equally bad.

This can be helped if the the developer adds an SEO section to each of the job postings and it overwrites the page title and meta description based on your input. However, a lot more goes into SEO than just the issue listed above and this plugin just isn’t managing it.
