    hi,

Just wanted to check please, if i install and it creates a double of the existing schema the theme or Yoast is creating, is this a massive problem please?

Will it create google duplicate content that once indexed is hard to get rid of?

I’m just trying to work out if there is something i should do before installing to avoid future issues.

For example like turning off basic schema in Yoast or checking if it’s my theme that is adding basic schema currently (i have no idea how to check if its yoast or theme, any help with that would be greatly appreciated please)

and if it is yoast how do i switch off schema output?

    Thanks again
    Matt

    Hi Matt,

Would you please provide a link to your site?

Also, check under the Schema > Types > see if entries are duplicated.

    Hey Hesham

    Yes no problem it is…

i currently do NOT have your plug in installed so any schema you see i think is either coming from yoast or the theme (I’m not sure which but you might be able to see please?)

and then if you can let me know if i need to somehow disable this current schema before installing and activating your plug in please.

I see there are three different types of schema define the same post (Article, Blog, Thing), I think you should stick with only one type of markup for the page since this may confuse search engines.

Ok thanks. I’ve never actually set up schema on my site, it’s happened automatically. I’m guessing via the theme? Or could it be yoast and theme hence the multiple names for 1 thing?

Should I install your plugin and then find a way to switch off the other existing schema or would you advise getting everything you can see currently switched off first?

Any ideas how I would do this please?

Or will your plug in override everything that’s there now?

Any advise on best next steps please?

The Schema plugin won’t fix the errors by itself!

Mostly it’s from the Theme you are using. I suggest that you deactivate the Schema plugin, then remove all markups from your Theme first.

When you are done, activate Schema plugin.
