    Hello BestWebSoft Staff,

    I am using the reCaptcha by BestWebSoft at alphaprofit.com

    Here is a schematic of how the plugin is used: https://www.alphaprofit.com/signup.png

    The plugin is used across the site during registration. I have shown one such instance /investment-newsletter-free-update-form/ as an example in the above PNG file.

    The user is taken to the URL /free-user-welcome/?email=tester%40emailtest.net after filling the form and validating reCaptcha.

    I get several spam registrations each day. The security plugin WordFence shows these registrations are from robots.

    I have two questions:

    1) Am I using the reCaptcha plugin correctly?

    2) What changes do I need to make to my setup to disallow robot registrations?

    Thanks,
    Melissa

    Hi,

    You can check your recaptcha work here – https://www.google.com/recaptcha/admin#list. If the problem still remains, please try to generate new keys and enter them on the plugin settings page.

    After this try to follow the next instructions in order to test reCaptcha’s keys:
    1) Go to reCaptcha Settings page;
    2) Click “Test reCaptcha”;
    3) Test your reCaptcha;
    4) Then сlick “Test Verification”;

    Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee 100% spam protection. Just like your plugin cannot give 100% accurate information that the registration was done by robots.

    Hello BestWebSoft Staff,

    Thanks for your helpful reply and suggestions. I have one followup question. Would there be any benefit in switching from reCaptcha v2 to either v3 or invisible? If so, which one would you recommend?

    Thanks again,
    Melissa

    Hi,

    Unfortunately, there is no captcha that could provide 100% spam protection. Real people (and spammers) can get through captcha easily. Here is a list of simple recommendations to stop spam on your WordPress website:

    1) Make sure that the reCaptcha plugin is installed, activated, updated to the latest version and integrated into your form(-s).
    2) Try to submit your form(-s) without captcha (or use the wrong answer to make sure that reCaptcha is working correctly).
    3) Install and activate Limit Attempts plugin to get additional anti-spam protection and low-down bots registration rate. Learn more – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/limit-attempts/
