• Avoid! There’s really no way I can be polite about this as I’ve wasted the best part of a week trying to get this working across 13 sites after purchasing the so called “Premium” version. Keyy is without a doubt the very worst WP plugin that I have ever used.

    Problem:

    • 1. Disconnect between the sites shown as registered on your phone app and those shown in your online Keyy account.
    • 2. Sites register and appear to work fine one minute, then randomly disconnect and stop working for no apparent reason the next. This happened many times across 13 different websites that use different servers, hosts and WP themes.
    • 3. Problems with sites using security certificates. Keyy would register both “http” and “https” versions of the site even though the entire site was secure. Despite the fact that I could see two versions of the site listed in my Keyy app, it would always tell me that I hadn’t connected the website to my account when I tried to sign back in. Once again I had to manually deactivate Keyy before I could regain access.
    • 4. I even tried asking support to completely erase all my account data “twice” so that I could start fresh to give this a fair test and rule things out. Upon starting again and using the free version of Keyy my online account still showed that I had 15 licences as if I was on Premium. Sites would again show as registered in the app, but wouldn’t appear in the online Keyy account. The whole plugin seems completely messed up to me.

If you really must use this plugins the make sure you take a note of the special URL (found in tiny writing below the barcode you scan to connect a site in the Keyy Admin area) that temporarily disables Keyy so you can login using passwords. You will definitely need this!

In the interest of providing a fair and accurate review here I should note that I did get a full refund and support (Ashley) did spend quite a lot of time working with me on this outside of normal working hours too!

Unfortunately, this still didn’t make up for the truly awful experience I had or the huge amount of time I lost trying to get this plugin to work as advertised.

I have now begun using Trusona and couldn’t be happier. If you’re looking for a CLEF replacement then try it as it’s slick and works as advertised.
