I am an experienced WordPress dev, and I am struggling to make basic changes with this one. Every successive theme is turning out to be worse than the previous one. You guys should honestly drop the blocks project, and just let us add code ourselves. That would be easier.

It is hours of reading non-existing documentation to figure out how remove the white space above the header. And I know how to code. I wonder how bad it is for those who don’t.

You will kill WordPress with this rubbish.

Hey @thebestwpguyintheworldyo – thanks for your review and feedback.

Using the Block Editor and Site Editor are definitely a change in how to approach things – and I can totally understand the frustration you’re feeling about the changes you’re trying to make.

But they’re also definitely here to stay. The hope would be that specific feedback around things that aren’t working as hoped can be used to keep improving it.

I do know this is something documented as part of the Twenty Twenty Three theme – and a solution is covered in this thread of support resources for Twenty Twenty Three. Do you mind me asking if you managed to resolve that issue in your site?

I do also see another thread where you mentioned some challenges with Sticky positioning of your Header. If you were willing to open a new support thread with more details those issues – that would be the best place to ask for specific assistance.

There’s some good news on that suggestion! With the release of WordPress 6.2 the ability to add Custom CSS to elements with the Site Editor was added, meaning you can use that to make any tweaks to position and styling which you find you can’t achieve otherwise.

I don’t want to add CSS to a specific block on just one page, I want the CSS to be site wide for specific things – like buttons, or images. For example in WooCommerce I use different image sizes for Mobile, Desktop and Tablets. I usually set that in CSS in a way that affects all Shop and Archive template pages. Having to set CSS for a block on each page is a retrograde step and defeats the objective of CSS in the first place, which was to reduce the number of times you had to do styling. Global settings should be easily accessible from the Appearances menu, shouldn’t have to open a page and then start hunting around to find something that was there in 6.2 but not in 6.3. Your documentation has not been kept up to date.

    Hi @robpl1,

If I understood correctly, you mean to add CSS site-wide instead of block-only?

You can add CSS to the whole site as well by going to the Site Editor, then Styles. There you can click on the three-dot icon (kebab menu) and go to Additional CSS:

By the way, if you need further help, feel free to create your own topic on the forums, so we can help you further. ??
