• Really dislike the Gutenberg editor- it’s so much work even to add a heading vs. text- the interface is not intuitive, and my clients don’t understand working in it. Anywhere that clients will be writing articles, we install the classic editor plugin. The only thing I like is the ability to add a button within an article. The rest of it is a real bummer.

I feel like I’ve really given it some time as I know I can be resistant to change, but it’s been years and I still hate working with it.

Sorry to hear it’s still a frustrating experience for you. There are a few shortcuts for adding a heading: you can type ## on a new line followed by a space and it’d automatically convert to a heading; you can also type / and write “head…” to select a heading.

@matveb I think that’s the problem. For a designer or coder who is used to markdown, certain things can be fast. You can tell Gutenberg was built by coders/designers, for coders/designers. In fact, that’s the problem with web design/coding in general today. Everyone has moved to keyboard shortcuts, markdown, and for installing things, composer, docker, etc. It’s like everyone decided to start a club where editing and installing is a hidden secret where you have to memorize all kinds of commands because no one believes in simple one, two click UI anymore.

I like markdown and I have a website that requires composer. It’s magical stuff. But, I don’t agree with building the web just for designers/coders. And, if all you do is design/code, then there’s no way to see this.
