There seems to be no ‘save’ button when editing an already published post. Also, when changing the status from “Published” to “Draft,” both in quick edit and normal edit mode, nothing happens. The post remains published.

I tried this with all plugins disabled and obtained identical results. I am using IE7.

I am using 2.7-beta2-9638 and have an ‘update post’ button in the top right when editing an already published post. This has been there through all versions as far as I remember starting in b2

If I change a post to Pending Review or Draft, it takes mine back off and unpublished. Do you have WP Cache or anything of the like installed that would make it so you don’t see the changes when you look at the main site again and are still seeing the post there?

I also remember seeing an option somewhere (not sure if plugin) That made it so admin sees draft and private posts as published..

well, I updated to 9638. Strangely enough, in edit mode (IE7), there was no link to reveal the dropdown box that allows you to change the post status. I then opened the page in FF2 (I’m not using my personal system right now so my selection of browsers is rather odd), and noticed the same problem. However, after clicking around the other options, suddenly the “edit” link appeared and I was able to change the status to unpublished. After making this selection a “Save Draft” button appeared, and I was able to commit the changes successfully.

This functionality is working fine for me in IE and Opera as of rev 9699.
