I have tried several times recently from Settings in this addon in my WordPress addon list to make a backup always with the same glitch. (1) It starts ok, but then I get an error message: “Waiting for scheduled time to retry because of errors.” (2) It adds an item to the list of backups (which I’d otherwise emptied), but flags it as “Not finished.” (3) It also has a link to a log, which I’ve downloaded and, should that help you get it, ftp’d it to my Web site. I don’t know if it’s safe to post the file name here, but you can let me know. (4) However, I also get almost immediately two emails. Each says it is sending me the back up, and each has an attached zip file of just under 200 kb. Both file names start backup-[today’s date]-1833-[a name for my Web site]. One ends uploads, and the other ends others.

    What can I do?

    Hi,

Please could you send us a copy of the full backup log?
This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.
The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Dropbox or Pastebin, and post the link here.

In other words, in answer to my question, it is safe to post a link here. Anyhow, I don’t subscribe to a drop service, but I’ve uploaded the file, as I’ve already said, to my site, where you can easily get it.

    Hi,

I can see that you are trying to send the backups via email?
Unfortunately, sending backup via email is not advisable as email cannot handle large files. I would suggest using a different method for your remote backup storage.

    Thanks,

Thanks. I think that helped. Now, I didn’t even know I’d chosen email. It must be the default, and what a shame it offers it if it’s not going to work. (My site isn’t THAT large, I suspect, compared to others.)

I next tried the cloud in Windows, but that looks like it requires a premium. Next I tried ftp, but I must have forgotten my own ftp password, and I’m reluctant to tamper as the saved settings in my ftp app work for my normal business.

Next I tried Dropbox. I’d forgotten I even have an account, and the interface is daunting, but sure enough it works, and it looks like, should I ever need to restore in WordPress, I don’t even need to navigate Dropbox itself. So I guess you solved it for me!
