back up constantly times out

  • Hi there,
    I have been trying to back up with ithemes BackUp Buddy, since December (eeeeek!!) and I constantly get the same message “the back up archive size has not increased in 30 seconds. If it does not increase in the next few minutes it most likely timed out. If the backup proceeds ignore this warning..”
    I have tried it many times, several times over the last two days specifically and it stops every time at 4.5 ish GB.
    Obviously the point of a back up is security, but it seems to be causing me a fair amount of strife.
    I would love some help to resolve the problem so I can complete my back up.

  • If you take a look at the “PHP Information” section of the System Information metabox on the iTSec plugin Dasboard page you will probably see a value of 30 seconds for PHP Max Script Execution Time.

    Also check the value for PHP Memory Limit.

    Then contact your hosting provider and have them increase these values for you. Or reduce the backup footprint …

    I really appreciate your response. I manager to find the information you were talking about, however none of it can be changed by the user (me).

    I contacted GoDaddy my host and apparently it isn’t in their domain either? It’s a theme concern for ithemes. I have contacted them too, with no reply.

    If you have any further ideas, I would love your assistance – I am playing with fire having no back up. When BackUp Buddy worked in the past, it was a great, easy to use theme.

    To be honest this (the www.ads-software.com free iThemes Security plugin forum) is not really the right place for your paid Backup Buddy plugin issue.
    (even though there seems to be some sort of integration between the iThemes Security and BackUp Buddy plugins).

    Also as far as I know BackUp Buddy is a paid for WP plugin and not a WP theme … But I could be wrong …

    Hopefully iThemes will respond to your issue and offer assistance to resolve the BackUp Buddy issue.

    Don’t expect any BackUp Buddy help from iThemes in this forum.
    You really need to knock hard on their door. Make as much noise as you possibly can … hopefully you’ll get noticed ??

    Once iThemes helped you resolve the issue know you are still welcome in this forum to let us know how the issue got resolved and then mark this topic as ‘resolved’.

    BackupBuddy support issues are handled in the BackupBuddy support forum. You do need a current license for support.
