    Hey guys,

So I noticed the Upgrade to 3.0 link in my admin area and decided I would go ahead and upgrade. First, I followed the backup instructions on https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Backing_Up_Your_Database and did steps 1-10. After performing those steps, I can no longer access my blog. I receive an error:

Warning: require(/home/xxxxx/public_html/xxxxx.COM/wp-includes/compat.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/xxxxx/public_html/xxxxx.COM/wp-settings.php on line 265

I’ve tried reuploading WP via ftp but I can’t access any of the three folders.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

    Glen

  • Did you download a backup archive successfully? Have you checked whether that archive is complete? Have you checked your database?

I managed to solve the issue. Somehow my permissions got set to 1411. I reset them back to the correct permissions and was able to regain access to my blog. Not sure how that happened but I’m up and running again ??
