    I’d like change background colour only for the footer (background colour and background colour for content I want to keep transparent).

    Theme doesn’t have options for choosing footer color it possible with additional layout modification and custom css.

    footer#colophon {
background: #333;
}

    If you want make additional customization yourself, you need to learn basic html/css.
    Or hire our developers.
