• Anyone know if it’s possible (on a photo type blog) to have an entry set as a background image? Help would be appreciated, even if it’s a bonehead question.

  • It’s not a bonehead question but it has no easy answer.
Do you mean a fixed size image for a fixed size entry ?
Or do you mean an image for any size entry ?
    Do you mean tiling ?

Tiling you would set the image for the ‘post’ or ‘storycontent’ of the CSS

No tiling could be done using the same, or you could attach it to another element – such as the ‘p’ tag – if the image were small.

It depends on what you were thinking of …

It’d be for a photoblog type site. Basically, when I post a new entry (a photo), that would be set as the background image in my window. Why? you may ask. Because I would like to have certain navigation elements set on top with transparent color. So basically a design reason, but also for the reason of protecting images (making it more difficult for someone to steal the image). Outside of making an entire Flash website, which would defeat using the ease of WordPress, I’m stuck on getting this to work.

Currently, I’m investigating using the Loop twice; once in the header and once in the body, calling the rewind_posts feature, but having zero luck.

So again, to summarize; Whenever I create an entry (which would be a photo), I would like that set to be my background. Is it possible, and if so, could someone help me out? (ps/ yes, I guess it would be a fixed sized image in a fixed size space, as it would be in a popup window … my blog would be in a popup window … does that make sense? if not, I can clarify)

    Thanks! ??

You could try disable right click function to protect your images.

You could insert your photo normally, in your post, then wrap each photo with the function found on the above page.

If this is, of course, what you’re after.

Yep, I’ve used this before. I’d ideally like to set the image as a background, this way it allows me to layer text over top of that image. Any other ideas out there? Maybe specifically on how Multiple Loops might work??? Could I set up multiple loops and have the background image defined with an entry in the head?

How about if you use the title of your post as the image name (less the extension) and then set the background image of the post to be the title name? Then you could put your post text right over the top of your image.

That’s interesting billh — can you further explain though?
