Background image help

Hi Hal – LOVE this widget and would like to be able to use it on our site – willing to donate $$ if we can make it work.
The hitch is that I need to get the bg color exact:
1) looks like it has a default grey overlay – is there a work around for this?
2) I can’t figure out the size for the bg image (which in this case is jut a block of color, so size doesn’t matter. haha.)
I am using the wide format in the footer of a wootheme. Thanks!
