Backslashes before apostrophes?

Okay, I love this theme (https://www.bulldogsandbroncos.com), but am having the following problem:

If I type something in the alert box or a sidebar widget that contains an apostrophe (‘), I get a backslash (\) that appears before it.

Any idea why?
