    Hi,
I was able to successfully backup WP, and also restore without any errors.
However when trying to access WordPress, I get the message “Your PHP installation dos not seem to have the required mySQL extension”.
This is really strange, because I already have a WordPress installation running smoothly on the same server!
The only difference I can think of is that the working WordPress installation is WP version 4.4.2, while the one I am trying to restore is 3.4.2.

Any advice what could be going on here?

    Thanks,
    Alex

  • With that big of a version span there is probably an issue with the database formats from one mysql version to the other. I’m not 100% sure what the underlying issue is however google seems to have allot of thread when I search for: “your PHP installation does not seem to have the required mySQL extension”.

Thanks Cory. I should add that I have the same setup up and running with a different hoster – no issues there.

The message for that is a bit generic… If your mysql server versions are close it could be related to a possible PHP msyql extension such as mysqli that is missing…

I was able to figure it out. My new hoster was running PHP 7.x, which was simply too new for WP 3.4 to work with it.
I changed the PHP version down to 5.x, and all worked fine.
    Thanks!

    Excellent! Thanks for the update…
