Backup file size has increased significantly

    Hi Cory,

    My website’s now running 100% perfectly on my host but the .tar.gz back I’ve taken of this new version has grown from 285KB to 637KB and I wondered whether I’ve not deleted everything post install.

    Since I’ve stripped out most of my graphics I wasn’t sure what might have caused the increase in filesize.

    I ran the delete options from the plugin, is there anything else I can check?

    Obviously it might have nothing to do with duplicator but I thought I’d ask.

    I’m not sure what you mean by the .tar.gz file? The plugin only works with ‘.zip’ files. If the archive file is growing you may have to peek inside to see exactly what it is. The plugin should only include the file in the WP minus any filters that you apply…

    Hi Cory, that’s ok, it’s not a fault with duplicator obviously, I just wondered if you’d seen this before. I’ll run another backup and check what’s in it.

    AFAIK the .tar.gz backup that my host’s cpanel creates includes EVERYTHING lock, stock and barrel for the WordPress install. This means that it needs to be unzipped to get to the zip file that contains “just” the wordpress files we need.
